From TV Week:
Blink has heard of low-carb diets, but this borders on the extreme. According to Dan Rebert, a creature and prosthetics make-up artist with MastersFX, which just signed on to do effects for a second season of HBO’s “True Blood,†star Anna Paquin is way conscientious about what she consumes on the set, even in character. “Alan Ball requested of us during the first season that any time Anna Paquin needs to drink ‘blood’ on set, we have to ensure that our special-effects blood is carb-free. So, for the second season of the show, we’re stocking up on carb-free blood—an item that’s not so easily found,†he says. It’s a good thing for Ms. Paquin that these aren’t the good old days of black-and-white productions, when Hershey’s chocolate syrup was the top choice for on-screen blood. The actress could not be reached for comment by deadline.

From AskMen.Com:
Why She’s No.71?
The Observer once described Anna Paquin as “oddball sexy,†a term that introduces what it is about her that we find so desirable: She’s cute, yes, but she’s a misfit too, and she’s been one at least since she won that Oscar.
In fact, even today, at 26, Anna Paquin still looks a bit like the emotionally troubled teen with a questionable reputation who finds refuge at the school theater. Can’t speak for others, but at our high school, this girl was smokin’ hot

From Variety:
“Fringe” and “True Blood” will take part in this year’s William S. Paley Festival.
Although the Paley Center for Media won’t announce the full lineup of shows for its popular annual fest until Feb. 18, the org said that the Fox sci-fi series from J.J. Abrams and HBO’s vampire drama from Alan Ball will be featured.
The Paley Festival, in which the cast and crew discuss their respective show or series, will take place April 10-23 at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood. Tickets will go on sale to members on Feb. 26 and to the general public on March 1.
For the first time, the org will offer a festival pass that will include one guaranteed ticket for premium seating each night, access to events and after-parties, concession stand vouchers, a membership for one year and other benefits. Cost is $1,200.
The fest moved to the Cinerama Dome last year after years at the Directors Guild.

From Variety:
Anna Paquin talked backstage about how hard she fought to win the role of Sookie Stackhouse in “True Blood.”
“I was the pale brunette from New Zealand, and I’m playing the Southern tanned blonde, essentially a Hooters waitress. It wasn’t the most obvious casting choice, but I just really wanted it and I didn’t stop until they said yes.”
How did winning a Globe compare to her Oscar win for “The Piano” at the age of 11?
“I don’t even remember that, it was very blurry and crazy,” she said. “This is quite blurry and crazy, too, but at least I’m old enough to drink and stay out past 10 p.m.”
