Anna Paquin to participate in Global telethon for Christchurch

Maori Television is to host a twelve hour global telethon in May to raise funds for the Christchurch recovery effort.

Rise-Up Christchurch will be broadcast from Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington with live crosses across the country and with crosses to activities in London, Los Angeles and Sydney, on May 22.

Television personalities Carol Hirschfeld, Pippa Wetzell and Mike McRoberts joined sportsman Hamish Carter and musician Jason Kerrison at an announcement in Auckland today about the telethon.

Ex-pat celebrities who have committed to the telethon include Rachel Hunter, Anna Paquin and Martin Henderson.

Also at the announcement was Mark Weldon, who is leading the Government’s Christchurch Earthquake Appeal and Fonterra chief executive Andrew Ferrier.

All money raised from the telethon will go to the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.
