‘True Blood’ Star Anna Paquin on Stephen Moyer, Nude Scenes and Dating Vampires
July 2nd, 2009 | News, Press | No Comments

From AOL Inside TV:

Sexier, tougher, naked-er. That just about sums up the second season of HBO’s vampire drama ‘True Blood.’ (Yeah, this definitely isn’t ‘Twilight.’) Star Anna Paquin loves that “anything is possible” on her show — even if it involves a lot of nudity.

She talks to AOL TV about filming steamy sex scenes with her on- and off-screen boyfriend Stephen Moyer, that other vampire franchise and whether she’ll return to the ‘X-Men’ movies.

Creator Alan Ball told us this season would be sexier. How sexy can it get?
Other things happen in the plot, you know what I mean? It’s not as much as people may think … There’s actual plot. But yes, it’s a sexy vampire show and yes, there’s more getting it on, so to speak.

How do you feel about filming all those nude scenes?
I feel fine. Although the way that people ask me about it all the time, I feel like maybe I should feel uptight about it. But I really don’t [laughs].

You never pipe up and say, “Wow, this is a lot of me being naked”?
I wouldn’t do it if it was too much. Everyone’s very respectful of the boundaries of whichever actor is doing stuff like that on set. So it’s not cameras being thrown anywhere and anything can happen, you know? It’s quite choreographed.

Stephen Moyer on Anna Paquin
July 1st, 2009 | Random | No Comments

From People:

A couple that boxes together, stays together?

At least, according to True Blood’s Stephen Moyer – the brooding Brit who plays Southern vampire Bill Compton and throws punches with costar and real-life love Anna Paquin.

“When I was a boy I loved boxing,” he tells Access DirecTV magazine in its July issue of his off-screen pastime. “And I’ve got Anna into it.”

Of their love for the brutal hobby, Moyer adds, “I like the sport and she likes the blood. I’m like, ‘Stop the fight, people are getting hurt, I can’t bear it!’ and she’s going, ‘Go on, hit ‘em!’ She loves it. She boxes too.”

But can chivalrous vampire Bill beat telepathic cutie Sookie in the ring?

“No way!” he says. “She won’t stop until she’s gnawed your stumps off. I tell you, my girl is hardcore.”

Anna Speaks With Out Magazine
June 29th, 2009 | Press | No Comments

From Out:

Bleeding into a highly anticipated second season, True Blood, Alan Ball’s dark and drawling Southern vamp drama returns, riddled with thinly veiled metaphors for LGBT rights. On and off-screen the show’s lead vampire lover, Sookie Stackhouse, played by X-Men’s Anna Paquin, aches for the bite of her vampire lover, solves mysteries telepathically…and waits tables.

The Canadian-born, New Zealand raised Oscar winner (she won Best Supporting Actress at the ripe age of 11 for The Piano), recently chatted with Out about the new season, her uncanny ability to play metaphorically gay roles, her off-screen romance with co-star Stephen Moyer, and sweet Sookie’s newfound love of S&M.

Out: How did you get involved with True Blood?
Anna Paquin: Well, I read the pilot script and completely fell in love with it and then pursued it incredibly hard, auditioned 100 times — I mean four or five times — until they said yes.

Live chat: ‘True Blood’ star Anna Paquin on Tuesday
June 29th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments

From Gold Derby

We’re chatting live with past Oscar champ (“The Piano”) and current Emmy contender (” True Blood “) Anna Paquin on Tuesday at 4 p.m. PDT / 8 p.m. EDT. Here’s your big chance to ask her your most interesting and exciting questions. I’m dying to ask what I’ve written about at length here at Gold Derby in the past: Do you think you can survive the curse against vampires at the Emmys?  What do Hollywood award voters have against the walking dead anyway?

True Blood In Entertainment Weekly
June 20th, 2009 | Press, True Blood | No Comments

True Blood is featured in this week’s issue of Entertaintment Weekly on their Must List. I will have scans up from the issue within the next week.

From Entertainment Weekly:

The Cast of True Blood Must Cult Faves

NAMES/AGES
Anna Paquin (Sookie), 26; Stephen Moyer (Bill), 39; Sam Trammell (Sam), 38; Ryan Kwanten (Jason), 32; Rutina Wesley (Tara), 29; Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette), 31
WHY THEM
HBO’s vampire drama has the sexiest, sauciest ensemble on TV — one that was willing to suck blood to work with show creator Alan Ball. ”I started stalking him,” says Paquin of her pursuit of Ball for the role of prim but feisty Southern belle Sookie.
PLAYING AGAINST TYPE
As Sookie’s love interest, Moyer’s vampire Bill provides a gentle take on the undead. ”The sex and drug addicts on our show are all human,” contends Moyer. ”They’re the seedy side.” And none more so than androgynous gay fry cook/drug dealer Lafayette. ”I’ve never really heard a character description of a dude wearing lipstick and makeup who’s masculine sometimes,” says Ellis of what drew him to the part. Recognition came more quickly for Wesley, who plays bitter Tara. ”Immediately I got Tara. I saw through her anger straight to her heart.” That’s why Ball’s show isn’t your typical vamp camp. As Kwanten puts it, ”With the depth of characters and substance of our stories, it’s so much more than just a vampire show.” True that.
NEXT
Season 2 will feature wilder story lines and crazier creatures. ”I don’t think it’ll feel like a different show, but it’s definitely going to feel like a bigger show,” says Trammell.
ON THEIR MUST LISTS
Paquin’s fired up over FX’s Rescue Me, while Moyer just finished Willy Vlautin’s The Motel Life.
