Child star Anna Paquin is all grown-up in hit vampire drama True Blood

SEXY Anna Paquin might be TV’s raunchiest vampire lover – but film fans will remember her best as the schoolgirl star of The Piano.

Her role as waitress Sookie Stackhouse in Channel 4′s critically acclaimed new drama True Blood sees her cavorting naked for red hot love scenes with a vampire.

But rather than blushing about it, at 27 Anna thinks she’s got nothing to be shy about.

She laughed: “It would be really stupid if it was one of those shows where the couple who do it all the time were constantly being draped with sheets so that you don’t see a nipple or wear bras during sex.

“Maybe some people do but that’s just not been my experience.

“Maybe because I was a kid actor, nobody expects me to do those kind of scenes but it’s a big part of our show.”

Anna, who became the second youngest Oscar winner for her role as Flora McGrath in The Piano, admits that, even when she’s got her clothes on, there’s not a lot of them as her waitress’s uniform consists of hotpants and a tight T shirt.

She said: “You really feel like you’re wearing your underwear for the first week. It took a little getting used to. I’m practically naked the entire time.”

But there’s no acting needed for the on screen chemistry with lead actor, Brit Stephen Moyer, because he’s become her fiance in real life.

The pair started dating after filming the pilot and only admitted their relationship to the rest of the cast and crew when they were sure they were serious about each other.

They got engaged last month after a year splitting their time between Los Angeles, where they film the show, and his home in London.

Anna said: “I wasn’t looking for a relationship. I wasn’t looking for one when I joined True Blood.

“But sometimes you get very happy surprises when you are focusing on other things.”

Anna has won a Golden Globe for her role and the acclaimed show has won the couple an army of devoted vampire-loving fans. And Anna believes it’s the dark lusty side of the vampire world True Blood portrays that is the big draw.

She said: “Vampires are hot, dangerous, scary men with high cheek bones. And our show is very sexy.”

True Blood, from Six Feet Under creator Alan Ballm has wowed critics and fans alike in the US.

Channel 4 are showing the series in the first week of October and it’s not to be missed.

It’s set in a tiny Louisana town in a time when vampires are living alongside humans, thanks to a synthetic blood substitute called Tru Blood.

When 173-year-old vamp Bill Compton (Moyer) moves into his old family home, the locals are both intrigued and horrified, especially when women who have had sex with vampires start to wind up dead.

But telepath Sookie is fascinated when she finds Bill is the one man whose thoughts she cannot read.

Anna said: “He’s from another time. He’s experienced things that she can’t even imagine and she’s lived in one small town for her entire life.”

After The Piano, Anna starred in a series of films including playing Rogue in X Men alongside Hugh Jackman and Scots stars Alan Cumming and Brian Cox.

She said: “The comic book franchise has a devoted audience and that stays with you for a long time.

“The only thing that has taken over my genre demographic is the vampire blood and gore crowd that True Blood has gathered which is kind of interesting and cool.”
